Accessibility

A website for everyone.

Newark Rugby Community Foundation is committed to ensuring that our website and digital content are accessible to all users, regardless of disability, device or circumstance. This page explains what we have done to make our site accessible and how to contact us if you experience any difficulties.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive and neurological conditions. We review our site regularly and work to address any issues identified. This statement reflects our current best efforts; we have not yet conducted a formal independent audit against WCAG 2.1 AA.

What we have done

  • Used semantic HTML throughout the site, including proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions and descriptive link text.
  • Ensured all images have descriptive alternative text, or empty alt attributes where images are decorative.
  • Designed colour contrast to meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
  • Made all interactive elements — links, buttons and form fields — keyboard navigable with visible focus indicators.
  • Associated all form inputs with descriptive labels and provided clear error messages.
  • Ensured the site is usable at 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality.
  • Used ARIA labels and roles where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
  • Avoided content that flashes more than three times per second.

Known limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of the site may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are actively working to address these. If you encounter a specific issue, please contact us using the details below and we will do our best to provide the information in an alternative format.

Assistive technology

Our site has been designed to work with common assistive technologies, including screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver, and keyboard-only navigation. If you experience difficulties using our site with a particular assistive technology, please let us know.

Physical accessibility

We are committed to making our programmes and events physically accessible. If you or someone you support has specific access requirements — including wheelchair access, hearing loops, large-print materials or any other reasonable adjustment — please contact us in advance and we will do everything we can to accommodate your needs.

Feedback and further help

As a registered charity, we are not subject to the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018. However, we take accessibility seriously and welcome feedback. If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may wish to contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which provides free advice and support on equality and human rights issues.

This statement was last reviewed in October 2026.
