Player Pathways & School-to-Club Transition

Bridging the gap between school and club.

What is the programme about?

Funded through the NLD (Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Derbyshire) Rugby partnership, our Player Pathways programme is one of our most strategically important areas of work. The Foundation generates significant participation through schools — Player Pathways exists to convert that participation into sustained club membership at Newark Rugby Club. We identify players, support their transition, and work closely with the Club to ensure a warm welcome and a clear pathway into age-grade rugby.

What we offer

  • Identification of players ready to join Newark Rugby Club
  • Structured transition support and introductions to Club coaches
  • Ongoing liaison between Foundation and Club throughout transition
  • NLD-funded — no cost to participants
  • Clear handover process ensuring every player feels welcomed

The benefits to you

  • Removes the barriers between school rugby and club membership
  • Provides a warm, supported introduction to Newark Rugby Club
  • Creates sustained participation and long-term club membership
  • Builds the pipeline for age-grade rugby at the Club
